Vampires have come to take over Lancre, but in a very subtle way. Magrat has just had her baby, a girl, and joins Nanny and Agnes in their attempt to try to stop the vampires. Granny goes away after thinking she hasn't been invited to the baby's name ceremony (silly Granny). It's getting obvious that she's not as young as she once was, but she still comes to the aid of her fellow witches (after realising how silly she's been, of course). Will they save Lancre from the vampires?
After the past few Discworld novels, Carpe Jugulum has picked up the series a bit in my opinion. It's hard not to enjoy a Witches story, but my favourite thing is probably the Igor's. I love the way they're written, especially the lisp. And they're always 'upgrading' themselves, so the perfect servants, really.
I'm certainly looking forward to more of the Witches novels and finding out what's in store for the baby.
